In the room:
In most rooms there are cabinets that can be locked with a padlock. Padlocks can be rented or bought at reception. Padlocks costs DKK 20 to rent or DKK 50 to buy.
If you arrive early, you can put your luggage in a locked room in the lobby at your own risk. If you are travelling as part of a group, reception should be contacted regarding luggage if you are arriving before 14.00.
Individuals and families can store luggage for DKK 20 per person upon departure. Groups can either choose to make a late check-out for one of their rooms until 13.00 for DKK 200, or rent a room for an extra night so that luggage can be stored the whole day. Unfortunately, it is not possible for groups to use the luggage room upon departure.
If luggage storage is not arranged before arrival, it can be arranged at reception, if possible.
Unfortunately, it can occur on busy days that our storage room is full at check-out. Because of this we cooperate with Dropnlocal.com who offers luggage storage around town. It is easy and convenient.
We are building a new, high standard guest kitchen
On the ground floor you will find a fully equipped kitchen available for the hostel's guests.
The kitchen was renovated in November 2016 in order to make it more functional with plenty of room for more guests to cook at the same time.
The kitchen is reserved for individuals and families. Groups of over 10 people may not use the kitchen. Cooking or eating in the rooms is NOT allowed.
We have a laundry on the ground floor. To wash your clothes you need to deposit money onto your key card at reception.
It is not permitted to bring alcohol into the hostel, and this will be confiscated by staff with an additional fee of DKK 1000.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the building. All smoking must take place outside the hostel. If you smoke inside this will result in a fee of DKK 1000.
Danhostel Copenhagen City is accessible by disabled poeple and can therefore be easily used by wheelchair users. There is a ramp at the main entrance and an elevator to all floors in the building, and buttons, key card readers etc. are positioned at a height that can be reached by wheelchair users. Wheelchair users are also able to book extra-large rooms with extra-large bathrooms so that they can move around more easily. If you require a wheelchair-accessible room, Danhostel Copenhagen City should be informed immediately upon booking in order to ensure that such a room is available.
A Danhostel Family card gives a 10% member discount when booking a room/bed.
The family card applies to everyone in the same household.
Danhostel Family Cards can be bought upon arrival for DKK 150 for Danish citizens.
HI (Hostelling International) cards also give a 10% discount when booking a room/bed. If they are individual cards, everyone has to have one in order for a discount to apply.
An HI (Hostelling International) card can be purchased for 160 DKK per person. The card is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
If you arrive to Danhostel Copenhagen City by car, we have the following recommendations for parking:
Special discounts for Danhostel Copenhagen City's guests at Parkzone 24-hour parking
We have a special agreement with Parkzone that our guests can get 24-hour parking for DKK 100. Normally Parkzone's day parking ticket is valid from 08.00 to 08.00, but as an extra service to our guests Parkzone will give 4 hours of extra parking so that the parking ticket is valid for 28 hours for our guests, from 08.00 to 12.00 the next day.
The arrangement applies to Parkzone's car park on Mitchellsgade 2, 1560 Copenhagen V, which is right by Polititorvet behind Nykredit – just 5 minutes' walk from the hostel. See a map outlining the parking
Parking permits are issued at the reception desk in the hostel. In order for this to be done, the registration number of the car must be given. Please have this information ready in advance when contacting the front desk.
It is emphasised that Danhostel Copenhagen City simply arranges the ticketing and is not to be held responsible for any further charges, theft, damages or other potential issues in connection with the parking.
Parking in the surrounding streets
There are a few public parking spaces along the drive to the hostel entrance, that runs parallel to H.C. Andersens Boulevard. You can also park in some of the surrounding small streets, for example in Puggaardsgade, Hambrosgade or Rysensteensgade. Danhostel Copenhagen City is located in the green parking zone in Copenhagen – read more about parking prices and zones here.
Free parking in the outer areas
If you will be in Copenhagen for several days, and if you do not need your car while you are here, it might be a good idea to park in the free zones, such as outer Østerbro, outer Nørrebro, and so on. If you park close to an S-train station you can reach the Central Station in approximately 10 minutes from the free parking areas. Click here to see a map of Copenhagen's parking zones.
If you need help, we are very happy to offer advice about parking when you arrive.
