Copenhagen Jazz Festival is a yearly music festival that celebrates jazz in all its forms. The festival has existed in its present form since 1979 and has with its many years of existence marked itself as one of Europes best Jazz Festivals as well as one of Denmark's most important music events. This status has been gained partly by putting together a programme with basis in musical quality and originality, by constantly being updated on new tendencies in both Danish and international jazz, and by being an alive and including festival which takes place in the city.
Copenhagen is during Copenhagen Jazz Festival a transformed city. The music is everywhere: on squares, the city parks, in the jazz clubs as well as new stages, theaters, museums and not least in the largest most beautiful concert halls. During the 10 day festival more than 1000 concerts will take place on more than 100 stages all over the city. Altogether the concerts will be visited by more than 250.000 happy people. The festival thereby proves that jazz continues to prosper in the historic jazz city of Copenhagen.
