Copenhagen from the Water
If you want to experience the city while being active, kayaking or SUP might be for you. Here, you can enjoy the sunshine on Danish waters and escape the traffic and commotion. Please note that renting a kayak or SUP requires swimming skills.
Kayak Republic
Less than 1 km from Danhostel City, you’ll find Kayak Republic. Here, you can rent both kayaks and SUP (Stand Up Paddle) boards. If you venture out on an SUP board, Kayak Republic provides all the necessary equipment included in the rental price, as well as a map of possible routes in the harbor for both experienced paddlers and beginners.
If you're a group of more than 4 people, you'll need to book a guided tour. If you prefer kayaking, you can rent single sit-on-top kayaks or double sit-on-top kayaks.
You can also rent sea kayaks upon presentation of a certificate.

GreenKayak
GreenKayak is an NGO that works to combat marine pollution.
At GreenKayak, you can rent their kayaks for free under two conditions: you spend your time in the kayak picking up litter from the sea and share your experience on social media using the hashtag #GreenKayak. This way, you can enjoy a free kayaking experience while helping to improve the marine environment in Copenhagen.
GreenKayak is present in several locations throughout Copenhagen.
Kajakhotellet
At both Kalvebod Brygge and Amager Strand, you will find Kajakhotellet.
At Kajakhotellet, you can rent kayaks, SUP boards, canoes, and windsurfing equipment. Please note that canoes and windsurfing can only be rented at Amager Strand. If you prefer kayaking, you can rent both sit-on-top kayaks and sea kayaks—both come with a paddle and a life jacket.
If you're more into SUP, the rental includes a safety leash, paddle, and life jacket (wetsuit available for an additional fee).
If you’d like to start with a course in either kayaking or SUP, there are also options for that.
