An artistic treasure trove
The Glyptotek is one of Copenhagen's iconic museums, founded by brewer Carl Jacobsen. With earnings from his brewery, Ny Carlsberg, he created a unique collection of art and cultural artifacts, which he donated to the public in 1888, leading to the establishment of the Glyptotek.
At the Glyptotek, you can explore an exceptional collection of artworks from antiquity to the 19th century, including impressive sculptures, paintings, and decorative arts from various cultures and periods. Discover Greek and Roman sculptures, admire classic paintings by great masters such as Gauguin, Monet, and Van Gogh, and be enchanted by the museum's beautiful winter garden filled with exotic plants and fountains. The museum currently houses a collection of over 10,000 works and artifacts.
In this oasis of unique architecture, you have the opportunity to experience the works in a new and sensory way. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the art and history on your own or participate in guided tours and events that provide deeper insights into the museum's treasures.
If you need a break, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal in the museum's cozy café, Picnic, while you digest the impressions. The Glyptotek is not just a museum; it is an oasis of artistic inspiration and cultural enrichment that will enchant your senses and leave you with memories for a lifetime.
