Meet over 4000 different animals
Located between Valby and Frederiksberg, the Zoo spans over 11 hectares and houses more than 4000 animals representing 250 different species from around the world. Here, visitors can experience everything from majestic lions and elegant giraffes to charming penguins and colorful tropical birds.
The Zoo is constantly evolving, with the aim not only to entertain but also to educate and contribute to nature conservation and animal welfare. Through education and entertaining activities, the Zoo increases guests' interest and understanding of wildlife and its diversity, while also focusing on the conservation of endangered species and natural areas worldwide.
In addition to being a home for animals, the Zoo also offers a variety of experiences and activities for visitors of all ages. From guided tours and animal feedings to interactive exhibitions and playgrounds, there is always something exciting to explore and learn in the Zoo. The garden and animals are divided into continents, and for the youngest members of the family, there is a children's zoo with a playground, petting zoo, and dining areas.
In 2008, the garden was expanded with a magnificent elephant house with an outdoor area facing Frederiksberg Garden to provide better opportunities for the elephants to roam, and in April 2019, the garden welcomed the Chinese pandas, for which they have built their very own new enclosure.
