Sankt Hans
Sankt Hans Eve is a long-standing Danish tradition celebrated every year on 23 June. It is a festive evening when people gather to celebrate midsummer, John the Baptist and the shortest night of the year. The celebration typically includes bonfires with a straw-built witch on top, communal singing and speeches – a tradition cherished by many Danes. The custom of burning a witch originates from old beliefs where the witch symbolised evil, and burning it was thought to ward off darkness. Today, it is commonly said that the witch is sent to Bloksbjerg.

BlueAshes-Concert
BlueAshes returns to Denmark and will perform at BAR50 on Friday, July 24th, at 8:30 PM!🎸🎶 After delivering several great shows with us before, the duo returns to BAR50 ready to bring another night filled with energy, connection, and rock vibes. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, BlueAshes consists of Danish singer Shila Mariposa and Alexis Zuniga from Cali, Colombia. Together, they create a powerful live experience where Shila’s strong vocals and Alexis’ impressive guitar skills blend into a dynamic mix of rock and rockabilly. Their 2020 album Checkmate is available on all streaming platforms, and in 2024 they released Heck Yeah, Hold My Beer, which brings rock and country together in a strong, distinctive sound. They have also made their mark with the Danish single Jeg kommer hjem – a heartfelt tribute from Shila to her father. 2026 has already brought new releases from the duo. The singles Scars and Pride and High on Life came out earlier this year, and Complete is just around the corner. All three tracks lead up to their upcoming album Reborn, set to be released later this year. Join us for a summer evening with cold drinks, great vibes, and live music at BAR50 – we can’t wait to see you!

We offer low-price accommodation in the middle of Copenhagen with the option of getting the best view of the city from our large, spacious rooms with private bathrooms. We both have dorms and private rooms suitable for family accommodation.
Our rooms accommodate from 1 to 10 persons which makes our hostel suitable for everyone; families, couples, backpackers, groups, school camps, etc. Our hostel can accommodate a total of 1,040 guests. As the only hostel in Copenhagen, we have four hotel apartments on the 17th floor with fantastic views of the city.

At Danhostel Copenhagen City, we also have the modern designer bar and café, BAR50, where you can enjoy delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as drinks with your family and friends. In the evening we change the ambience with events, good music, drinks, cold draft beer and delicious snacks.
